What inspired you to be a chef?

My journey began with a deep appreciation for Lebanese heritage. I have always embraced my cultural identity and let it shine through my culinary creations. My mother, the founder of Em Sherif – Mireille has always been a perpetual source of inspiration to me, rooting me in the true essence of Lebanese home cooking. This has fueled my journey and remains an anchor in my career. Authenticity radiates from beautiful, lived experiences and I believe this shines through at Em Sherif.

What do you think are the most important elements to keep in mind while choosing a career as a chef?

Remember to honor your heritage and roots, challenge boundaries, and welcome obstacles. Always cook with love and attention, as generosity and passion drive both innovation and success. Above all, maintain unwavering standards for quality, as food crafted with love resonates deeply with guests.

What is one of your best and easy recipes to make?

Fatteh very simple and always appreciated by guests in the case someone is hosting a dinner party.  Whether its with shrimps, hummus, eggplant, maftoul, you name it!

What makes Em Sherif special to you and your audience?

Our menu draws inspiration from our fondest childhood memories, aiming to evoke certain feelings of nostalgia through the dishes we offer. At Em Sherif, excellence is our top priority. We place a strong emphasis on maintaining high standards in all aspects of our operations, from sourcing the best quality ingredients to providing exceptional service. Em Sherif proudly represents Lebanese culture and hospitality, ensuring that diners experience a true taste of Lebanon no matter where they are in the world. Every detail, from the service and cuisine to the decor and guests, reflects the essence of Lebanese life and our authentic, satisfying dishes.

What are your plans for the future?

I am passionate about keeping up with the latest food trends and advancements in the industry to ensure that both I and Em Sherif stay at the forefront of innovation. While we welcome new ideas, we remain committed to preserving our culinary heritage, identity, and inspiration. Looking to the future, in addition to expanding our newest concept, the Em Sherif Deli, I also aspire to explore new avenues in food technology and innovation, further growing Em Sherif brand and footprint, as well as expand our offerings to our beloved customers.
