ABOUT AL MAHA
Located within the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, Al Maha holds a defining place in the UAE’s hospitality story as the region’s first ultra-luxury desert resort.
Set deep within the dunes, just a short drive from Dubai, the experience begins the moment guests enter the reserve and travel along an eight-kilometre sand track into a landscape shaped entirely by nature. The resort was built with a singular vision: to protect the surrounding ecosystem while offering direct access to native wildlife, desert landscapes, and Bedouin-inspired hospitality.
The name “Al Maha” refers to the Arabian oryx, an enduring symbol of the nation’s conservation journey. Once critically endangered, the species now thrives within the reserve, supported by ongoing preservation efforts in which Al Maha continues to play a meaningful role.
With only 42 tented villas spread discreetly across the landscape, Al Maha maintains an intentionally low footprint that protects the natural environment and preserves the sense of stillness for which it is known. Interiors feature regional antiques, handcrafted furnishings and Arabian design details, grounding the guest experience in the heritage of the land. ACCOMODATION & FACILITIES
Al Maha features 42 private tented villas, each designed for privacy, comfort, and uninterrupted views of the surrounding dunes. Every villa includes a temperature-controlled private plunge pool, shaded outdoor deck, spacious bedroom and lounge area, handcrafted furnishings, regional artwork, and a large bathroom with a soaking tub and separate shower. In-villa dining is available 24 hours a day.

A two-bedroom villa (approx. 175 sqm) offering expanded living space, a private pool and deck, and desert views. Suited for families or small groups wanting both privacy and comfort.
Emirates Villa
Larger two-bedroom villas (approx. 375 sqm) that blend traditional furnishings with spacious layouts, private pool, courtyard or deck area, and living space. Combines heritage ambience with generous space for extended stays or family travel.
Presidential Villa
The resort’s most expansive accommodation (approx. 530 sqm). Featuring three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a majlis (traditional gathering room), a grand living and dining area, private pool and pool deck, and generous space for gatherings of up to 10 guests. Includes full butler and villa host services for an elevated, exclusive experience.

DINING
Dining at Al Maha is shaped by its desert setting and a growing commitment to responsible, place-led cooking. The resort approaches food as an extension of its environment, drawing on regional flavours, seasonal ingredients, and traditional methods while continually refining how the kitchen operates behind the scenes.
Sustainability is embedded into daily practice rather than positioned as a standalone initiative. The culinary team engages with global food leadership platforms such as MAD Academy in Copenhagen, a non-profit organisation that brings together chefs, farmers, and food system thinkers to explore how kitchens can operate with greater responsibility, resilience, and care. These insights help inform practical decisions across sourcing, menu development, and kitchen operations at Al Maha.
A renewed focus on local produce has led to the increased use of UAE-sourced ingredients. Dibba Bay oysters from Fujairah are now served as part of the SA-RA Lounge experience, while partnerships with nearby farms introduce fresh edible flowers and leaves into daily menus. To support this approach, daily kitchen briefings include a “local product spotlight,” encouraging teams to deepen their understanding of ingredient provenance and the people behind the produce.
Reducing food waste is another key priority. Improved monitoring has been introduced across operations, alongside the creation of new recipes that make thoughtful use of by-products. One example is the Orange Dacquoise featured in Afternoon Tea, developed using orange peels leftover from the breakfast service.
Looking ahead, Al Maha continues to strengthen its relationships with local farmers, camel dairy producers, beekeepers, and date growers, with the ambition to create signature dishes made entirely from locally sourced ingredients. Al Diwaan Restaurant
The resort’s signature dining venue, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner in both an elegant indoor space and an outdoor terrace overlooking the dunes. Al Maha is known for its private dining rituals that celebrate the landscape. Guests can enjoy a lantern-lit Dune Dining experience set atop the dunes, a Deck Dining menu served on the villa’s private terrace, or a fully serviced In-Villa Dining meal at any time of day. The BBQ Dune Dining Experience offers an open-fire barbecue prepared by a private chef under the night sky. For an unforgettable start to the day, guests can plunge into their private pool and experience a floating breakfast, complete with views across the desert landscape.
WELLNESS & SPA
The Al Maha Spa welcomes guests to a serene wellness environment designed to complement the desert surroundings. The spa includes treatment rooms (including couples’ suites), a steam room, sauna, Jacuzzi, cold-plunge pool, a relaxation lounge, outdoor pool, and a fully equipped gym.
Signature therapies draw on Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian aromatherapy traditions, incorporating natural oils, botanicals and gentle techniques. Among the signature treatments are the Sodashi Oud Renewal Therapy – for muscular tension relief, detoxification, improved skin and wellbeing – and the Al Maha Body Journey, which combines body exfoliation, massage, and date-and-milk foot treatment for skin softening and relaxation.
Spa day and stay packages include access to the pool, facilities, a therapeutic massage, and lunch or dinner at Al Diwaan.

Al Maha offers a range of activities led by expert field guides who specialise in the region’s ecology and heritage. Experiences include wildlife drives, camel treks, horse riding, nature walks, archery, falconry demonstrations, dune safaris and sunset sundowners. Arabian oryx and gazelle are frequently seen wandering near the villas and along the dunes.
Each guest receives two complimentary desert activities per night of their stay. For day visitors, experiences such as the Bedouin Day Package provide a curated dusk-to-dawn journey through the desert.
SUSTAINABILITY & CONSERVATION
Al Maha operates entirely within the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, a protected area spanning more than 225 square kilometres – nearly five percent of Dubai’s total land area. Established in 2002, the reserve plays a critical role in desert ecosystem preservation, supporting more than 600 species of flora and fauna and ensuring long-term survival for indigenous species including the Arabian oryx, sand gazelle, Arabian gazelle, desert fox, and numerous reptile and bird species.
As a partner of the Reserve and in alignment with Emirates’ Environmental Policy, Al Maha integrates conservation into daily operations while offering guests meaningful access to the desert landscape.
