This festive season, Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi invites families and loved ones to embrace the magic of the season in one of the world’s most spectacular island settings, bringing together elegant celebrations, exceptional dining and meaningful moments. Set against the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, the Maldives’ leading private island resort has curated a programme of experiences for every generation, from dazzling Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations to intimate culinary encounters, family adventures and restorative wellness journeys.

On 16 December, the festivities will begin with a magical Family Christmas Tree Lighting at Peacock Alley, setting the scene for a season of celebration. On 24 December, guests are invited to dress in their festive finest for a glamorous Christmas Eve Gala at the Festive Pavilion, complete with a lavish seasonal buffet and live entertainment. The celebrations will reach their peak on New Year’s Eve, with an unforgettable evening of dining and entertainment, culminating in a midnight countdown and spectacular fireworks over the Indian Ocean. Guests can ease into 2027 with a leisurely New Year’s Day breakfast at Peacock Alley and celebratory brunch at Tasting Table, before the season draws to a close on 6 January with A Celebration of Festive Heritage, featuring an elegant dinner and exclusive live performances.

Beyond the festivities, a host of thoughtfully curated experiences awaits, inviting guests to make the most of every moment on the island, including:

A Season of Exceptional Dining

Throughout the festive period, the resort’s celebrated culinary venues will present specially curated dining experiences, bringing together international flavours, festive favourites and distinctive gastronomic encounters to suit all tastes. At Zuma, guests can enjoy a festive Japanese tasting menu featuring Oscietra caviar, grilled king crab and Wagyu sirloin, while Li Long will showcase Chinese culinary traditions through exclusive off-menu creations. Terra will host intimate dining experiences among the treetops, including a multi-course Lobster Night and Latour wine dinner.

An exclusive Ithaafushi Chef’s Table on 26 December will bring together six of the resort’s chefs for a six-course dining experience at The Rock, complimented by wine pairings and live music. Elsewhere, guests can discover traditional Maldivian flavours accompanied by Boduberu drummers, enjoy beachfront barbecues at The Ledge, festive brunches at Nava, Champagne and oyster soirées at Amber, and an international gourmet market at Mirror Pool.

Festive Traditions and Island Adventures for Every Generation

With togetherness at the heart of the season, families are invited to make magical memories with a festive programme designed to delight all ages. Little ones can embrace the magic of the season with gingerbread decorating, festive crafts, junior chef experiences and a special visit from Santa Claus, while families can come together for movie nights beneath the stars, beach games and friendly festive competitions.

Beyond the celebrations, the Indian Ocean beckons with guided snorkelling, diving adventures, dolphin encounters and sunset cruises. Back on land, guests can enjoy tennis and padel clinics, including a dedicated children’s tennis camp with LUX Tennis, alongside an exciting line-up of sporting activities and family challenges.

Restorative Wellness for the Year Ahead

For those seeking a moment of calm amid the celebrations, the resort’s festive wellness programme offers the ideal opportunity to reconnect through holistic treatments and restorative wellness experiences. From 20 December to 20 January, visiting wellness practitioner Shree will offer sound therapy, chakra balancing and energy healing, including couples’ harmony sessions and Himalayan sound bath meditations. Joining her from 15 December to 15 January, traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, Dr. Syed Afzal, will offer personalised treatments spanning acupuncture, body alignment, meditation and energy practices.

Guests can also discover seasonal spa rituals, including the Tides Signature Sleep Ritual, combining a full-body massage with rejuvenating facial and head treatments, and the 24K Golden Experience – a gold-infused facial complimented by a relaxing foot massage.

Bringing together cherished traditions with the beauty and tranquillity of the Maldives, Waldorf Astoria Maldives invites guests to reconnect with loved ones, create lasting memories and welcome the year ahead in one of the world’s most breathtaking island settings.
