NEW Invitation Only Luxury Retreat Opening December

On December 1st, 2026, Octola III will welcome its first guests to a new wilderness retreat hidden within the remote fells of Finnish Lapland. Perched on the site of a former radar station, the invitation only lodge accommodates up to six guests and combines ultra-private hospitality, bespoke Arctic experiences and meaningful connections to Sámi culture, all within a vast private wilderness overlooking the tundra.

LAPLAND, BY PRIVATE INVITATION

Set 500 metres above sea level on the historic foundations of a former radar station, Octola III offers panoramic views across the fells of Finland, Norway and Sweden. Hidden within a protected Sámi wilderness area, the retreat accommodates just six guests across three bedrooms and is accessible only through a private waiting list. Its elevated location provides exceptional conditions for stargazing and viewing the aurora borealis, while a dedicated host, private chef, sauna, ice-swimming pond and curated Arctic experiences ensure a fully serviced stay.  Intimate in scale and rare by nature, guests are invited to disconnect, breathe the purest air, and surrender to the incomparable silence and wonder of these mysterious lands.

AN EXPANSIVE PRIVATE DOMAIN

True exclusivity requires space, and Octola III provides it on an unprecedented scale. A private wilderness refuge spanning tens of hectares, with over 5 kilometers of private roads, guests find privacy, security, and absolute discretion, within a sanctuary of untouched nature. Despite its remarkable seclusion, Octola III remains effortlessly accessible, located a mere 20-minute private transfer from Enontekiö Arctic Airport.

DEEP IMMERSION IN SÁMI CULTURE & REINDEER  TRADITIONS

A deep respect for Sámi culture lies at the heart of the Octola experience. Just 45 minutes from Kautokeino, the cultural centre of the Sámi people, guests can explore traditional silver workshops, historical sites, and authentic cultural experiences. In partnership with local reindeer herders, guests may also journey across the tundra alongside migratory reindeer herds and gain insight into a way of life preserved for generations.

ELITE RECREATION AND PRIVATE WELLNESS

Wellness at Octola III centres on one of the Nordic region’s most enduring traditions: the contrast between heat and cold. A custom-engineered pond, for invigorating ice swimming alongside a wood-burning sauna on the water’s edge, evokes spiritual and physical renewal in the snowy silence. Steps away, a private Games Den offers an expansive 220-square-meter leisure complex for unique recreational pursuits. With a fully stocked bar, guests can practice suopunki (the traditional Sámi lasso technique) on a specialised indoor track, enjoy billiards,  professional darts set-up, and much more.

BESPOKE ACCOMMODATION CONFIGURATIONS

Designed by famous UKI architects under the leadership of renowned Lappish architect Hannu Voutilainen, whose vision has shaped every Octola property, Octola III reflects the traditions, landscapes, and spirit of the North in a refined and immersive way. Accommodation is available as a one suite (48m²), two suite (181.5m²) or full lodge buyout (230m²), allowing stays to scale from couples to small groups while maintaining complete privacy and personalised service.

THE AURORA RADAR STATION

For larger groups, guests have the option to secure a full buyout of both Octola III and its sister property, Aurora Radar Station.

Opened earlier this year, Aurora Radar Station was a highly classified site from the mid-1960s before being thoughtfully transformed into an exclusive Arctic retreat. Surrounded by indigenous Sámi culture and set deep within the Arctic tundra, the property offers guests a rare opportunity to reconnect with nature in complete seclusion.

Located within the wider estate, Aurora Radar Station provides an ideal base for accompanying staff, security personnel, or additional guests. The property comprises five apartments with ten bedrooms and eight bathrooms, alongside dining facilities and a dedicated wellness area featuring a sauna, lounge, and outdoor hot tub. Its proximity to Octola III ensures seamless operational support while maintaining the privacy and exclusivity of the main lodge.

Full Buyout Option (1000m²): Exclusive use of Octola III Private Wilderness, including the Aurora Radar Station.

A VISIONARY STANDARD FOR CLEAN AIR TOURISM

Situated in the heart of Finnish Lapland, one of the world’s cleanest environments, the property offers guests the opportunity to experience exceptionally pure Arctic air firsthand. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), breathing the pure Arctic air of Lapland for just one week may extend a person’s lifespan by more than 24 hours, highlighting the profound health benefits associated with clean air and pristine natural surroundings.

Building on Octola’s pioneering environmental credentials, Octola III features research-grade air quality monitoring technology that continuously measures atmospheric conditions throughout the year. Guests gain real time insight into the purity of the air they breathe, while the system simultaneously contributes valuable data to scientists conducting climate and atmospheric research.

OCTOLA’S ORIGINS

“With Octola III, we are taking our established concept of ultra-private, quiet luxury to the literal top of the fells. We have created an environment where guests do not just observe the Arctic; they are entirely enveloped by it. From the thousand-hectare wilderness views to the deep cultural connection with the Sámi people and the measurable purity of the air, Octola III represents an absolute boundary-pushing  evolution of experiential travel.” comments Janne Honkanen, Founder of Octola.

To preserve the ultra-discreet nature of the Octola experience, online reservations are strictly unavailable. Access is granted solely via a carefully curated private waiting list.
