Ph7 Academy and the Art of Hairdressing

Interview with Ph7 Academy/Truss Professional Team Experts:

1 How does your academy differentiate itself academically from traditional hairdressing education in the UAE?

The focus of the Academy is to perfect the art of hairdressing by further enhancing Hair Artists existing skills and abilities through Masterclasses and hands-on workshops. As opposed to focusing only on brands and their products, our objective is also to teach best business practices and high-level customer experiences.  We are thoroughly aware of how competitive the industry is in the region and beyond and therefore ensure to cover many topics of interest and always educate on up to date hairstyles and trends (regionally and globally).  Our educators travel the world and not are not based regionally, so we can confidently assure attendees of any course they attend that they will not only be certified, but certified by an educator who will teach them a skillset with outstanding techniques.

2 Can you share specific examples of how you’ve integrated world-class educators into your curriculum?
We have scheduled many Pivot Point USA masterclasses for 2025. with the main educator Federico Aguirre bringing a wealth of experience from across the globe (please see below link for information on Frederico and the course outline).

Our UAE based educators are continuously travelling to international events to ensure they implement new innovative trends to their courses.  We are an ever evolving educational academy and strive to ensure that anyone who attends is a leader in their industry.  We at pH7 are continuously educating our teams and we are confident that our courses are unmatched in the industry.

3 How do you ensure that all training provided aligns with sustainable practices and the use of recyclable products?
We use less products to achieve optimal results, training hours that are efficient and during our coffee breaks we utilize recyclable or reusable materials and ingredients that are in season with vegan and vegetarian options.  We use paper foils instead of non-recyclable materials, e- books, use of mannequins to full potential (colour and cuts) and we reduce the consumption of towels and laundry as we are exceedingly conscious of water wastage.  Additionally, all Truss products used are fully sustainable and recyclable – this is something we are massively proud of at the academy.

4 . What feedback have you received from students regarding their learning experience, particularly concerning sustainability in hair care?
Our students are fully educated on the effect of product ingredient and the impact on hair health and the environment so the fact our brand TRUSS PROFESSIONAL uses high quality ingredients, vegan based products, has a package that is recyclable and biodegradable within 8 years, is not tested in animals, refillable products and strong in social causes makes our student confident the brand and our Academy is engaged into sustainable practices.  In a society whereby these practices need to be highlighted more, we at pH7 and at the academy focus strongly on this ethos.

5 What difficulties have you faced as an academy in the region (especially Saudi and Kuwait where it is somewhat viewed as difficult for men to teach women in hands on training classes due to the cultural implications)

This is an area whereby we love to in fact “educate” the “educators” and brand partners globally !  Our founder and CEO Nitin Advani has been living in the region for many years and is an entrepreneur with a focus on ensuring that pH7 is the premier educational hub of the GCC.  He has seen the shift in culture regionally and with his knowledge of the industry he has broken barriers in regards to the stigma attached to many thinking that women cannot work in specific industries.  It is also becoming more culturally acceptable for female local business leaders in the region to integrate with male colleagues and to be hands on when it comes to training and education too.  As a male, in a predominantly female led industry, Nitin can attest to the fact that it is now women leaders in the GCC that are making waves in the industry.  They are also very much in favour of ensuring that their teams are highly educated and specifically in the UAE, sustainability is key when looking to engage with new products.  Saudi and Kuwait, have in fact the most salons in the region, run and owned by females and this has not been in any way a challenge for the team of pH7 as key focus on such regions is education and moving forward.  So in fact, thankfully, difficulties have been an issue – in fact, Nitin welcomes working with these highly motivated and business focussed women of the Middle East.
