H&M’s latest designer collaboration with WARDROBE.NYC defines the essential modern wardrobe

This August, H&M launches their latest designer collaboration with the New York-based womenswear label WARDROBE.NYC. Founded in 2017 by editor and stylist Christine Centenera, and designer Josh Goot, the brand has achieved great success on a defining premise: that a modern wardrobe can be distilled into its purest, most desirable form.

The H&M collaboration draws on nearly a decade of archives to translate the duo’s vision into a comprehensive offering of its most enduring shape — a tightly edited set of essentials that are both directional and deeply wearable. A purposeful expression of archetypal urban style, the collection celebrates a versatile approach to building a wardrobe: starting with the styling of a complete look, then refining it into individual components that hold their own. The silhouette is sophisticated and sensual, with strong shoulders and a long line. Cast in the brand’s signature minimal colour palette, with notes of blue, the pieces are united by exceptional material sourcing — wool and fine wool blends, organic cotton and jersey, and recycled technical fabrics — and by careful attention to finesse and detail.

“These are the ultimate wardrobe essentials, made with such thoughtfulness and a quiet passion. The way every shape is so well considered — you can really feel how it will be to wear one of these garments just by looking at it. These are pieces that will be in your wardrobe for a long time.” — Ann-Sofie Johansson, Head of Design Womenswear and Creative Advisor, H&M

“We wanted to create a capsule for H&M that was true to the wardrobe concept: A timeless and versatile statement that was both essential and of the moment. This design approach comes from a real, personal philosophy of dress. I think this honest approach has always been part of WARDROBE.NYC, and you can feel it in the H&M collaboration.”  — Josh Goot.

Foundational Styles

An ideal wardrobe, the collection is anchored by impeccably cut tailoring alongside elevated staples that work seamlessly together. A long black wool coat headlines the offering, while two blazer shapes — the classic double-breasted and a long-line contoured style with paneled detailing at the back — paired with tailored mini and midi skirts, offer a sophisticated take on suiting. A cropped wool bomber and washed denim jacket with cut-and-sew panelling carry precision into more casual territory. Denim is further explored both in an enticing mini skirt and straight-cut jeans that pool at the ankles. A sophisticated approach to sporty utilitarianism runs through the padded bomber jackets, low-slung drawstring trousers, and an array of hoodies.

The Art of Layering

“Layering is a key part of the way I put things together – using wardrobe staples almost like building blocks to create an ensemble. I also think about a silhouette, and the perfect hero piece to complete the look. I trust these pieces completely. That trust, that reliability, is really what WARDROBE.NYC is all about.” — Christine Centenera

Layering is central to the picture — the idea that everything goes with everything else, encouraging customers to build across looks. Transparent layers — a racer-back bodysuit, a long-sleeve bodysuit, leggings, and a slim-fitting midi skirt — are designed to underpin the stronger silhouettes, mixing and matching freely. Organic cotton hoodies, tank tops, and long-sleeve T-shirts offer a clean baseline, as does a fitted bodysuit in dense cotton-mix with removable shoulder pads. The single note of colour arrives in the organic cotton shirt in a soft blue. The tightly edited accessories round out the collection: the open-toe patent boots, and a black belt with a brass buckle.

The WARDROBE.NYC H&M collection will launch in select stores and online at hm.com on 6 August 2026.
